Halal industry is huge and with the global market valued at $547 billion dollar a year, it provides huge opportunities for Malaysia, to become key player in Halal industry. The number of halal certified companies has decrease over the years with SME sectors suffered the most where only 1% of SMEs is halal certified. This problem exist because of the current halal certification process is slow, complex and expensive.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) research team has developed a halal auditor mobile application, the first in the world that can help Malaysian Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) certify halal auditors through the Malaysian halal certification auditing process.

The QuikHalal app can enhance the auditors’ productivity by facilitating and expediting the halal audit management through an efficient audit planning, systematic data collecting, automatic report generating and effective information sharing. Auditors can plan their halal audit according to different halal certification schemes (Food and beverages, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Food premises and restaurants, Slaughtering houses, Consumer goods and Logistics).

The Head of Research, Dr. Mohd Iskandar Illyas Tan said that QuikHalal is a product of research collaboration by the Halal Informatics Research Laboratory (HOLISTICS Research Lab) led by the UTM Centre for Fiqh Research, Science and Technology (C-First), headed by Prof. Dr. Mohd Yusof, Prof. Farahwahida and Prof. Dr. Arieff Salleh Rosman.

The bottleneck is the internal halal audit where planning is the most complex which require the preparation of halal checklist and non-compliance form. We want to change this with QuikHalal, the fastest, easiest and smartest way to halal certified. QuikHalal eliminates the needs to prepare any checklist since it contains the pre-defined list based on various halal certification schemes. It also help auditors execute the audit and collect evidence by capturing and annotating photos from the mobile devices.

And finally, it can automatically and instantly generate the halal audit report. QuikHalal has been recognized by Halal Hub, JAKIM and recently launched by the Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi We hope QuikHalal can improve the productivity of halal industry not only in Malaysia but everywhere in the world.
