The Quality Council
The Quality Council is chaired by the Vice Chancellor and includes all the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, the Registrar, Bursar, Chief Librarian, selected Deans, and three representatives from the Senate. The Director of Quality acts as the Secretary for the Quality Council. The leadership at UTM has come to recognize that the quality issue in higher education is about building a management system that drives continuous improvement of all processes, based on feedback data from various stakeholder groups.
The Quality Council plays an advisory role for UTM on matters related to quality management and such role includes :
- To recommend and review on regular basis, the UTM quality policy statements (vision, mission, charter, quality policy and objectives)
- To oversee the overall running of quality in the whole University
- To perform management review in relation to quality matters
- To formulate and recommend strategic directions for Continuous Quality Improvement
The mission of the Quality Council is to enhance the University’s organizational effectiveness, expand its capability, and engender a culture of continual improvement and performance excellence. The goal is to enable the delivery of ever improving value to customers through an integrated approach to organizational performance management.
