On 27th September 2014, a group of student and staff from our UTM Equine Club organized a study visit to International Horse Show located at the Selangor Turf Club. This visit participated by 27 students of Bachelor Degree of Science (Equine Management), 11 students of Equine Club, and 10 staffs to escort this tour. In this event, students get chances to learn various type of horse such as Arabian, Thoroughbred, Kinsky, Appaloosa, Thai Pony and many more.

These various type of horses were not only came in different breed, but also have their own characteristics from aspect of endurance, speed, strength, sizes and etc. Besides that, student exposed with the suitable supplement and gadget used to be applied to the horse and the right way of grooming, treat and ride on horse. Other than this visit, all students already given with a task for each group of 4 members to finish it and present it on the day of normal class. The interesting about this visit is it was not only let the student to get the general knowledge of horses, but they also get the chance to see the Equestrian Sport and the Archery competition.

Today, the STC Equestrian and Sport Center has 45 riding horse/ponies provided for either advanced or beginner level, first-class stables and good training facilities. The training facilities include two international arenas, a derby and cross country ground, which enable the student of STC to train for competition. For beginner, training is conducted at the three smaller rings for safe riding. At the STC Equestrian Centre, students are provided with the advantage of enjoying their rides or go hacking within the expansive area of 255 acres surrounding the riding school.

Besides being a centre for learning riding, the STC Equestrian Centre in collaboration with the Malaysian Equine Council also conducts education and training programmes such as Basic Horse Management Course, National Orientation Course, Senior Horse Management Certificate Course, National Coaches Accreditation Scheme for instructors and Courses for Farriers.

This visit started at 12.00 pm and ended at 5.00 pm before all the participant going back to UTM Skudai.
