ASSOC. PROF. DR. ARHAM BIN ABDULLAH
Director, Industry Relation Division, Higher Education Department, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia

PROFILE: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arham Abdullah obtained his Bachelor of Civil Engineering (B.Eng) in 1998 and Master of Engineering (M.Eng – Engineering Management) in 1999 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He completed his PhD from Loughborough University United Kingdom in 2003 in the area of Building and Structural Demolition. Currently he is an Associate Professor in Faculty of Civil Engineering UTM and seconded as Director Industry Relation division, Higher Education Department, Ministry of Higher Education from 2014 to 2018. He also has been appointed as the Deputy Director (Innovation) at Innovation and Commercialisation Centre, (ICC) UTM from 2009 to 2014 and was appointed as Principal of Kolej Tun Hussein Onn UTM from 2006-2009.

As professional membership, he is an Affiliate Member of Institute of Demolition Engineers United Kingdom, and Graduate Member of Board of Engineer Malaysia (BEM) and Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has appointed him as a co-opted member in developing the Malaysian Code of Practice for Building Demolition MS2318:2012 and as a consultant in developing a training module for demolition contractors in Malaysia. He also has assisted Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ) in developing the Petaling Jaya Guideline for Building Demolition. Since 2004, he is actively practicing his expertise as a demolition consultant in many demolition projects in Malaysia.

His research interests are mainly in Academia Industry Collaboration, Innovation and Commercialisation, Building and Structural Demolition, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Advanced Engineering Informatics, Concurrent Engineering, Knowledge Management and Project Management.

As part of the contribution to UTM, he has assisted in setting up UTM-Erricson 5G Centre, Innovation, Commercialisation Centre (ICC) and MagicX. He also managed to develop the Innovation Eco-system at UTM by developing UTM IP & Commercialisation and Consultancy Policy. He has also assisted UTM in getting HiCoE status for IBD, AMTEC and Institute of Noise and Vibration.

Other contribution on Industry@University programme at other universities includes; UteM Samsung IoT Academy; Teaching Accounting Firm (TAF) @ UMT and UiTM; CIMB Stock Exchange Trading Centre @ UiTM Segamat; Rail Industry Centre of Excellence @ UTHM; Maritime Industry Centre of Excellence @ UMT; Agriculture Industry Centre of Excellence @ UMS; Toray Knowledge Transfer Centre @ USM, U-Innovation Centre @ UniMAP; Engineering @ UM; Integrated CSR project with Samsung and CIMB; and the Ministry of Higher Education Flagship Programme “CEO FACULTY PROGRAMME”.

At national level leadership responsibilities, he is also appointed as Board of Directors for Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (UTHM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), UMS Invest Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Aerospace Malaysia Research Centre (AMIC) and National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH) under the Ministry of Human Resources.

As a summary, he has contributed academically in term of Research & Publication, Teaching & Supevision, Academic Recognition & Leadership and Community and Industry Services and he has fullfil all the requirement to be appointed as Professor.


YM DATUK DR. TENGKU NAUFAL BIN TENGKU MANSOR
Certified Facilitator in Applying FQ at Work, Counselor, Advocate & Solicitor.

PROFILE:  Datuk Dr. Tengku Naufal Tengku Mansor (PMW) is an authorized and official certified facilitator of HumaNext, New Jersey USA in Applying Emotional Intelligence (EQ) at Work; Critical Conversations; and Creativity & Innovation at Work. He was an Independent Certified Trainer for Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats. Recently, Datuk Dr. Tengku Naufal is a Certified Kirkpatrick’s Training Effectiveness Analysis (TEA) Consultant/Trainer (Silver Level).

He obtained an LL.B (Hons) from the International Islamic University, Malaysia and an LL.M (Corporate and Commercial Law) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London. He is also a Master degree holder in Corporate Communication (M.Sc. Corporate Communication) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He obtained his Doctoral Degree in Business Administration (DBA) specializing in Uncertainty Management During Organizational Change from the University of South Australia (UniSA).

Datuk Dr. Tengku Naufal is specially trained in the field of Human Resource and Practical Counselling at the University of Westminster, London and City & Guilds, London where he was awarded Special Certificate in Helping Relationships. Recently, Datuk Dr. Tengku Naufal was also awarded a Certificate in Change Management & Performance Consulting by Penn State University, USA under the supervision of Prof. Dr. William Rothwell. He was also a Peer Counsellor at the International Islamic University, Malaysia.

Datuk Dr. Tengku Naufal is an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, a Syar’ie Counsel and Syari’ah Family Consultant of Syari’ah Courts of the Federal Territories and a part-time lecturer in Business Law & Ethics for MBA students at the Putra Business School, UPM.

He is currently a frequent guest speaker for the legal literacy training and empowerment programmes for women organized by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia, capacity of which allowing him to appear as speaker in ‘Wanita Hari Ini’ a programme specially targeted for women produced by TV3 and RTM 1’s Respons and Feminin.

He is a member to the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and Malaysian Institute of Human Resources Management (MIHRM).


DR. ZAHRAH MOKHTAR
Human Resource Expert.

PROFILE :  Zahrah currently provides advisory and consulting expertise in areas of university governance and human resource management, to the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia; the Malaysian Productivity Corporation; and  the Malaysian Public Universities. She has provided invaluable input in the publication of the University Transformation Programme Green-book (Enhancing University Board Governance and Effectiveness) and the Guide to Assessing Governance Enhancement in Malaysian Universities (GAGE). She was instrumental in co-developing the audit instrument and conducting the manpower auditing in the local university and local public authority.

Zahrah has extensive higher education operations management experience in a very large Malaysian public university.  She has to her credit 37 years managing at various levels of the university, with 8 years as Secretary to the University Board of Directors and University Senate.  During her tenure, Zahrah has spearheaded multiple discussions and negotiations with various government agencies in matters pertaining to manpower requirement, staff welfare, career development and advancement, and university autonomy. She was also the Chairperson for the Registrar’s committee of the Malaysian Public Universities.

Zahrah received her Bachelor degree from University of Malaya, her Masters in Public Administration from University of Southern California, and earned her PhD in Educational Administration from the National University of Malaysia (UKM).


MR. SAMUEL KIM
Co-Founder Officer and President of the Center for Asia Leadership.

PROFILE: Samuel Kim is the Co-founder and President of the Center for Asia Leadership. He currently leads the teaching team for the Asia Leadership Institute, where he teaches on the practice of cross-cultural negotiation,career building and management best practices, maximizing leadership potentials through EQ, SQ & RQ change, and develops contents and programs that help build capacities among emerging young leaders to address and solve the challenges in Asia today.

Prior to establishing the Center in Boston in 2014 and subsequently a regional headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in 2015,  Mr. Kim worked for 12 years in varying sectors from international development, strategy consulting and social entrepreneurship to community development, politics and government.

Mr. Kim currently sits as board in three non-profit organizations, holds a position at the Asia Center in Harvard University as a Research Scholar, and is also, Visiting Scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.


YBHG. DATIN PADUKA IR. DR. SITI HAMISAH TAPSIR
Director General, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.

PROFILE:  Datin Paduka Ir. Dr. Siti Hamisah Tapsir is currently the Director General at the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. She oversees the implementation of the initiatives outlined in the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) for the public and private higher education institutions. Prior to her current appointment, Datin Paduka Siti was the Deputy Director General for the public and private sectors for 8 years. She played the primary role in the establishment of a rating system for private colleges and the liberalization of private higher education. She also contributed significantly in the formation of several foreign university branch campuses in Malaysia and the enhancement of the public universities’ policies and governance. Prior to her position at the Ministry, Datin Paduka was the Deputy Vice Chancellor of University Teknologi Malaysia. At the professional level, Datin Paduka Siti is a Board Member for Malaysia Board of Technologists, a registered engineer under the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a fellow of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia and an Associate Member of the American Civil Society of Engineers (2008-2012).


PROF. DATO’ DR. MORSHIDI SIRAT
Director, Commonwealth Tertiary Education Facility (CTEF)

PROFILE: Morshidi is the Founding Director of the Commonwealth Tertiary Education Facility (CTEF) based at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. CTEF is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) and the Commonwealth Secretariat (COMSEC) based in London. Morshidi is also a Senior Research Fellow at the National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN), Universiti Sains Malaysia, and a Fellow at the Human Capital and Education for Asian Development Foundation (HEAD Foundation), Singapore. Morshidi has taken visiting professor position at the Research Institute for Higher Education (RIHE), Hiroshima University and recently at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

Morshidi has served as the Director, National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN) from 2002 to 2010. In February 2011, Morshidi was appointed as Deputy Director-General (Public Sector), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) and subsequently as the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2013. In April 2013, Morshidi was appointed as the Director-General of Higher Education/Registrar General for Private Institutes of Higher Education.

Morshidi publishes widely on higher education policy and is actively engaged as member of the editorial boards of higher education journals such as “Higher Education – The International Journal of Higher Education Research”, “Studies in Higher Education” Journal, “Higher Education Policy”, and “Asian Education and Development Studies” Journal, and the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan Journal (HEEACT Journal).

In view of Morshidi’s expertise and experience in higher education policy, he is often engaged to undertake consultancy work for UNESCO Bangkok, the World Bank and the ADB primarily on higher education issues and policies in Southeast Asia. Currently, Morshidi with colleagues in Malaysia, are investigating “Islamic-East-West Traditions and the Development of Hybrid University in Malaysia”. This project contributes to a larger project entitled “Hybrid University in East Asia”.  A second project, with LH Martin Institute, University of Melbourne, Australia on “Leadership of Research Institutions” is underway.  Under CTEF, Morshidi is co-ordinating a study on “Funding for Tertiary Education in Commonwealth Pacific Islands”, and another study on “Doctoral Education Process in Commonwealth Africa”. Currently, Morshidi is heading a research project on “Pathways to Empowerment in the South Pacific”, a MFIT grant administered by UNESCO Bangkok.


PROF. DR. DURRISHAH IDRUS
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

-A highly experienced academic leader who serves and contributes at various levels in the Malaysian academic industry since 1984.
– Very involved and understand the vision, mission and challenges in the private higher education of Malaysia.
– Has led several research for MOHE that helped better the policy and procedure of private higher education sector, such as establishing the following:

  • The Criteria for Establishment of Green Universities, University Colleges and Colleges in Malaysia;
  • Guidelines on Policy, Standards and Criteria for Upgrading the Status of College to University College and University College to University;
  • The Web-based instrument for upgrading of Colleges and University Colleges in Malaysia’, was also completed. These are very important research of significant impact in the whole transformation of Malaysia to become the hub for higher learning in the region.

-Served MOHE as assessor for the upgrading process on many private universities in Malaysia.
– Very experienced in developing programmes and curriculum at various level and getting approvals from MOHE and various agencies in Malaysia at UTM and KPJ Healthcare University College.

KPJ Healthcare University College
First Vice Chancellor & CEO of KPJ Healthcare University College for four years (2011-2015).
– Upgraded the College to University College status, and got approvals for almost 40 programmes from Diploma to PhD levels.
– Involved directly in ensuring financial sustainability of the University College and high quality programmes in healthcare education.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)
Held various posts at UTM Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, among others:
– Pro-Vice-Chancellor UTMKL Campus at present (since 2015).

MDM. MAHURAN SARO SARIKI
Head of Department, Research, Development & Policy Unit, TalentCorp Malaysia.

PROFILE: Mahuran heads the Research Department where she works closely with stakeholders from federal and state governments/agencies, industry players, employer federations, labour unions and international agencies in conducting research study on human capital requirement.

Mahuran has more than 20 years of experience in Human Resources Management and has a wide knowledge and experience in Human Resources Strategy and Operation, Human Capital Development, Human Resources Performance Management as well as Industrial Relation Management. She is also a member of NAM Institute for the Empowerment of Women (NIEW), Malaysian Directors of Academy (MINDA) and Association of Women Entrepreneur Network of Malaysia (WENA).


PROF. DATO’ DR. NORZAINI BINTI AZMAN
Professor of Higher Education; Chairman, Higher Education Research and Policy Development Organization, Malaysia (PenDaPaT), Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

PROFILE:  Norzaini Azman is Professor of Higher Education at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She is also an Associate Research Fellow at the National Higher Education Research Institute (IPPTN). She is currently serving as the 2017-2019 Chair/President of the Malaysian Society for Research and Higher Education (HE) Policy Development (PenDaPaT). Her main research interests include policy and governance of higher education, the academic profession, HE and sustainability and leadership in HE. She has collaborated with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysian Higher Education Leadership Academy, International Educational Planning, Paris; the Asian Development Bank, SEMEO-RIHED and UNESCO Bangkok and the Malaysia-Australia Institute in various research projects. She has authored books on academic leadership, academic mobility and succession planning in the Malaysian university system, and contributed several chapters and articles on higher education policies, the academic profession and academic leadership in local and international journals and books.


MR. AHMAD HUSAINI HASSAN

PROFILE: Ahmad Husaini Hassan is currently heading as Managing Director/CEO of Ritz Bravo Sdn Bhd. Ritz Bravo is the local Malaysia company focusing into Food Supply chain globally from high end consumer up to the retail business.  Prior to this he was the General Manager for Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd, Brunei Darussalam.

Royal Brunei Catering Sdn Bhd (RBC) is Brunei’s leading and premium provider of catering services and food solutions in the country. Today, RBC caters not only to the needs of general public but also the aviation sector and encompass other businesses in institutional catering, laundry and dry-cleaning services including Restaurants and cafe outlets.

RBC is operating as a Government Linked Company under the governance of Darussalam Assets.

He join RBC after a successful stint with Brahim’s Dewina Group of Companies holding several Director position within the group locally and abroad with a total of RM 650 million turn over a year.

Husaini first started from ground operation level in resort and hotel management after completing his diploma with University of Technology Mara (UiTM) in Hotel Management back in 1988.

Over the years, he has built up his network and accumulated extensive hands on experience in the industry enabling him to provide expertise in resort and hotel management with exceptional guest operation in diverse physical and cultural settings, complemented by strong analytical skills within sales, marketing and customer support.

He is also considered as a dynamic leader with years of quantifiable achievement and proven record of profitability and productivity, as well as solid record of proven proficiency in team building, planning, profit maximization, client base expansion and strategic development in large national and international companies.


MDM. SHANTI JUSNITA JOHARI
Head of Enterprise Marketing and Solutions, MAXIS.

PROFILE: Shanti Jusnita Johari leads Maxis’ marketing and solutions development to enable New Ways of Working for businesses and entrepreneurs in Malaysia. A very experienced senior executive in the telecommunications industry and corporate Malaysia, Shanti’s 20 years career covers various senior leadership roles including business PnL management, marketing, business strategy and sales. Prior to Maxis, Shanti was Executive Vice President in-charge of SME business in Telekom Malaysia. She has also held several Board membership roles and is an Alternate Board of Director of the Bridge Alliance. She graduated from Vanderbilt University (Bachelor of Engineering) and acquired her Masters in Business Administration from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.


MDM. KARTINI ARIFFIN
Producer, Radio Announcer, TV Host, Script Writer, Voice Talent.

PROFILE:  Kartini Ariffin is currently the Director of Radio for iM4U Radio Sdn. Bhd. Launched in September 2014, Kartini is responsible for setting up, conceptualising and strategising the success of Malaysia’s only Youth Volunteerism station. From social media, on ground and on air marketing campaigns, Kartini is also responsible for the station’s daily operation and oversees programming for the station.

She graduated in BSc Computerised Accountancy from UK, Kartini continued to study ACCA while working for PWC back in 2001. After a year as an Associate, she decided to explore other possibilities.


ASSOC. PROF. DR. MOHD RUSHDAN BIN MOHD JAILANI
Deputy Director, Centre for Academic Leadership (CAL), AKEPT.

PROFILE:  Mohd Rushdan Mohd Jailani is Associate Professor at the Faculty of Leadership and Management, USIM. His area of specialization is Islamic Thought and Spirituality.  Currently, he is Deputy Director, Centre for Academic Leadership (CAL) at Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT). Prior to this, he was Dean at USIM’s Faculty of Leadership and Management and Director for Asian Centre for Research on Drug Abuse (ACREDA), USIM. He contributed extensively to the writing of a chapter on Developing and Sustaining Leadership Excellence, in MOHE’s University Transformation Programme (UniTP) Playbook on Strengthening Academic Career Pathways and Leadership Development.  He is also directly involve in conducting several academic leadership development training at AKEPT and universities.
