History of Sports Development in UTM

1975 to 1978

Sports programs run by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) under the Department of Sports. Sports secretary coordinating all programs. Many programs are ‘add hoc’.

1979
Sports programs are placed in Student Affairs. Direct supervision by the Sports Officer.

1980 to 1981
The championship sports programs through the Faculty, Open University and the Talent competition.

1982 to 1984
Planning Johor campus sports facilities.
FCS Management Among Students in Public Higher Education Institutions.

April 1985
Transfer of staff to the campus unit of Johor.
Active development of sports facilities

1986
The Faculty of Sports program in the form introduced in Johor campus.

1987
Application of High Performance (High Perfomance) among University athletes were introduced with an emphasis on team culture and Sports Science.
UTM hosted Championship Golf Between Institutions of Higher Learning staff.

1988
Outdoor programs introduced through Leadership Course in phases.

1989
MASUM Sports Secretariat entrusted to the UTM two years.
The Student Village Championship program was introduced.
The concept of sports as a recreation to be emphasized to new students.
Transfer to Head of Campus Sports Corporation.

1990
The course of strategic planning to the Official Sports Unit
The Student Championship held in public for the first time, Skudai.
The Sports Swimming Championships IPTA students at UTM, Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur
