In UTM, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to fulfil their fullest potential by providing them access to education. Hence, we are forever committed to ensuring our students and staff’s well-being are looked after. Since 2017, our biennial UTM Royal Gala Dinner event has served as a fundraising platform which aims to raise funds for the purpose of academic, research and public service mission of the university.
This year, UTM Royal Gala Dinner 2022 is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 16 July 2022, at PERSADA Johor, Johor Bahru and will be graced by Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, Permaisuri Johor and Chancellor of UTM.
In previous years, we were honoured to receive enormous support from our alumni and corporate partners, of which approximately RM3 million was raised. The donations were channelled to the UTM Endowment Fund, the UTM Wakaf Fund for Education, Because We Care Chancellor’s Fund, Faculty Endowment Fund and Alumni Endowment Fund with more than 1000 students as beneficiaries.
For a record, 714 students have benefited from this endowment fund through scholarships, and 358 of them have graduated. Moreover, part of these donations was also given through pack food, laptops, financial aids during festival and the recent flood disaster, and facemask and sanitising kit during Covid-19 outbreak which benefited more than 4000 students and front liners.
We are optimistic that this year’s event will be a success, and this can only be achieved with your support. Rest assured that by donating, you are helping UTM in supporting the brightest and best students in fulfilling their potential, regardless of their circumstances, background, or financial need.
Your generosity will pave the way for UTM to provide scholarships and bursaries to more students. On the research impact front, your financial aid will also support UTM to work on breakthrough research projects benefiting the community at large.
