Johor Bahru, 20th December 2014 – Center for Community and Industry Network (CCIN), UTM through a cash injection of RM70 million from the Central University Community Transformation (UCTC), Ministry of Education Malaysia has successfully implemented the launch of the Community Engagement Program UTM: Transformation Kampung Sungai Melayu Ecotourism on December 20, 2014 (Saturday) ago. The program was inaugurated by the Deputy State Secretary Johor (Management), Y.Bhg Tuan Haji Amran bin A. Rahman with cooperation from other government agencies such as MPJBT, Department of Information, IRDA, Mara Negeri Johor, Tekun Nasional, Johor Tourism Department and Tourism Malaysia.

Kampung Sungai Melayu famous as the location of the migration various species of birds from around the world will be transformed  in a sustainable manner through the launch of UTM Community Engagement Program involving the transformation process of ecotourism to community.

This program involving many participation of faculties and at the same time, it followed the recommendation of the government through National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) which highlighting on implementation of high impact programs, rapid implementation time, lower cost and sustainable. Lectures, researchers, and more than 100 students from different faculties, which from Faculty of Architecture, Faculty of Management, Faculty of Education, Language Academy and Center Co-curriculum work together to help the process of ecotourism sector transformation.
