A. Umum/General

1. Adakah Semester II Sesi 2019/2020 akan berjalan seperti biasa?

Ya, berjalan seperti biasa dengan sedikit perubahan Kalendar Akademik Sesi 2019/2020 seperti yang diluluskan Senat. Semester II bermula semula pada 1 April — 24 Julai 2020.

Is the 2nd semester of the 2019/2020 Session going as usual?

Yes, it operates as usual with slight changes in the Academic Calendar for 2019/2020 Session as approved by UTM Senate. Semester II start on 1st April — July 24, 2020.

 

2. Bagaimana saya boleh dapatkan Kalendar Akademik yang baharu?

Sila layari website UTM ( http://www.utm.my/covid19/ ) dan juga aplikasi UTMSmart melalui telefon bimbit anda.

How do I get a new Academic Calendar?

Please access UTM website (www.utm.my/covid19/) or the UTMSmart apps through your mobile phone.

 

3. Adakah perubahan dalam Kalendar Akademik Sesi 2019/2020 terutama tempoh Semester II ini? Bagaimana pula Semester III (semester pendek)?

Ya. Ada perubahan. Tempoh Sesi PdP Semester II dipanjangkan kepada 24 Julai 2020. Begitu juga dengan Semester III 2019/2020 yang akan bermula pada 24 Julai — 2 Oktober 2020.

Are there changes in the Academic Calendar for the 2019/2020 Session especially during this Semester II period? What about Semester III (short semester)?

Yes. There are changes. The duration of the Semester II Learning and Teaching (L&T) Session is extended to July 24, 2020. Similarly, Semester III (short semester) 2019/2020 will start on July 24 – October 2, 2020

 

4. Perlukah saya hadir ke kampus UTM untuk meneruskan pembelajaran?

Tidak perlu kerana pembelajaran dan pengajaran akan dibuat secara atas talian sepenuhnya

Do I have to attend the UTM campus to continue my studies?

There is no need because learning and teaching will be done fully online

 

5. Bolehkah saya mengikuti kursus berkaitan dalam Semester III (semester pendek), adakah pihak Universiti membenarkan?

Boleh. Fakulti akan memaklumkan kepada semua pelajar senarai kursus yang boleh diambil dalam Semester III Sesi 2019/2020 selepas mendapat kelulusan Jawatankuasa Akademik Fakulti masing-masing.

Can I take a related course in Semester III (short semester), does the University allow it?

Yes, you can. The Faculty will notify all students of the list of courses available in Semester III Session 2019/2020 after approval of Faculty’s Academic Committee.

 

6. Saya berada dalam kampus semasa Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan, boleh ke saya pulang ke kampung halaman?

Anda diminta berada di dalam kampus semasa Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) sehingga keadaan benar-benar pulih. Sila patuhi arahan kerajaan.

I’m on campus during the Movement Control Order, can I go back to my hometown?

You are asked to be on campus during the Movement Control Order (MCO) until the situation returns to normal. Please obey the government’s instructions.

 

7. Bagaimana jika saya tetap ingin pulang ke kampus supaya lebih mudah fokus kepada pembelajaran saya?

Anda diminta untuk berada di rumah atau di kediaman anda sepanjang Semester II sesi 2019/2020. Walau bagaimanapun, sekiranya PKP berakhir dan kesan dari wabak Covid-19 tidak membahayakan, anda boleh pulang ke UTM.

What if I still want to go back to campus so that I can concentrate on my studies better?

You are required to stay at home or at your residence throughout the second semester of the 2019/2020 session. However, you can return to UTM if the MCO ends and the government has declared the Covid-19 crisis to be over, and that it is safe to travel.

 

8. Bagaimana sekiranya saya tiada kemudahan internet di kediaman saya atau capaian yang tidak sesuai untuk melaksanakan pembelajaran dan pengajaran atas talian?

Pensyarah yang terlibat akan membantu dengan kaedah pengajaran yang bersesuaian dengan keperluan anda.

What if I do not have internet access at home, or inaccessible to online learning and teaching?

The lecturers involved will assist, by using the teaching method that suits your needs.

 

9. Adakah cuti sempena perayaan Hari Raya telah diambilkira dalam kalendar akademik 2019/2020 yang telah dikemaskini?

Ya. Telah diambilkira. Oleh kerana PdP akan berjalan secara jarak jauh atau dalam talian mulai 1 April hingga 24 Julai 2020, pensyarah boleh membuat perancangan sewajarnya yang mengambilkira keperluan perayaan berkenaan selain daripada tarikh cuti umum yg diisytiharkan.

Has Hari Raya holiday celebration been included in the revised 2019/2020 academic calendar?

Yes. It has been considered. Because the PdP will be running remotely or online from April 1 to July 24, 2020, lecturers can make appropriate plans to take into account the Hari Raya celebration apart from the associated public holidays announced.

 

10. Saya sedang mengikuti program mobiliti di dalam/luar negara. Dalam tempoh PKP ini saya telah menangguhkannya. Bagaimana saya ingin meneruskan selepas PKP tamat?

Anda boleh meneruskan program mobiliti anda mengikut ketetapan universiti tempat anda menjalankan program mobiliti. Sekiranya, anda mengambil keputusan tidak meneruskan program mobiliti, anda boleh mendaftar semula di UTM melalui pejabat akademik fakulti atau sekolah masing-masing.

I am in the local / overseas mobility program. During the MCO period I postponed it. How do I proceed after the MCO ends?

You can continue your mobility program according to the university rules where you participate in the mobility program. If you decide not to continue with the mobility program, you can re-enroll at UTM through your faculty or school’s academic office.

 

11. Bolehkah saya melengkapkan pengajian saya Semester II sesi 2019/2020 di Universiti Awam yang lain?

Boleh. Anda boleh melengkapkan pengajian Semester II sesi 2019/2020 di Universiti Awam yang lain dengan kebenaran fakulti di UTM dan universiti berkaitan. Anda perlu memaklumkan hasrat anda kepada penasihat akademik untuk tindakan selanjutnya. Anda perlu mematuhi segala peraturan yang ditetapkan oleh universiti tersebut. Kursus anda ditukarkan ke status Kursus Mobiliti dan keputusan akademik diperolehi selepas UTM memberikan keputusan akademik dari universiti berkaitan.

Can I complete my 2nd semester 2019/2020 session at another Public University?

Yes, you can complete the second semester of the 2019/2020 session at another Public University with the permission of the faculty at UTM and the partner university. You should communicate your plan to the academic advisor for further action. You must comply with all the rules set by the university. Your course shall be converted to Mobility Course status and you will obtain your academic results after UTM submits the academic results from the relevant university.

 

B. Peperiksaan Akhir Semester II 20192020 dan Pengijazahan/ Final Examination for Semester II 20192020 and Graduation

12. Bagaimana dengan peperiksaan akhir, adakah akan dibuat secara dalam talian juga?

Kaedah peperiksaan akhir akan ditentukan oleh Fakulti serta mengikut kesesuaian kursus. Fakulti dan pensyarah yang terlibat akan memaklumkan pelaksanaan secara terperinci kepada pelajar.

What about the final exam, will it be done online as well?

The final examination method will be determined by the Faculty to suit the course. The Faculty and lecturers involved will inform students of the details in due time.

 

13. Aktiviti PdP Semester II 2019/2020 telah mula dilaksanakan sepenuhnya secara dalam talian. Setakat ini saya dapat mengikuti dengan baik. Sebagai persediaan saya, bagaimana kaedah peperiksaan akhir akan dilaksanakan?

Semua Fakulti telah mula merancang kaedah pelaksanaan peperiksaan akhir. Setiap kursus mempunyai kaedah penilaian atau peperiksaan akhir yang berbeza-beza. Anda akan dimaklumkan oleh pensyarah-pensyarah yang berkaitan dengan kursus tersebut.

The activities of L&T for Semester II 2019/2020 have been fully implemented online. So far I have been able to follow well. For my preparation, how will the final exam be conducted?

All Faculties have begun planning for their final exams. Each course may use different assessment methods or final exams. You will be informed by the course lecturers.

 

14. Saya dijangka akan bergraduan Semester II Sesi 2019/2020 ini. Tetapi saya belum melangkapkan kursus Profesional Skill Certificate (PSC). Bilakah saya perlu mengambil kursus tersebut?

Anda diberi pengecualian bagi kursus yang belum selesai sahaja dengan syarat anda menyiapkan video resume dan resume. Kursus PSC yang telah selesai dijalankan akan disenaraikan dalam transkrip dan yang diberi pengecualian tidak akan disenaraikan.

I am expected to graduate in Semester II 2019/2020. But I haven’t completed the Professional Skill Certificate (PSC) course yet. When should I take the course?

You will be granted an exemption for the course that is not completed yet, provided you prepare your resume and resume video. Completed PSC courses will be listed in the transcript, while those exempted shall not be listed.

 

15. Adakah akan ada perubahan pada tarikh konvokesyen?

Atas nasihat dari Kerajaan supaya dielakkan aktiviti perhimpunan besar dalam tempoh sekurang-kurangnya enam bulan selepas tarikh akhir PKP, maka konvokesyen UTM juga besar kemungkinan akan terpaksa ditangguhkan. Adalah dijangka bahawa tarikh paling awal dapat diadakan konvokesyen UTM adalah pada penghujung bulan November 2020 sekiranya MCO berakhir pada bulan Mei 2020.

Will there be a change in UTM Convocation Date

The government has advised for the public to avoid any mass gathering within six months of the end date of MCO. In line with this instruction, UTM convocation will most likely be postponed. It is expected that UTM convocation date will be shifted to end of November 2020, at the earliest, assuming the MCO has ended in May 2020.

 

C. Penangguhan/Deferment

 

16. Aktiviti PdP Semester II 2019/2020 telah mula dilaksanakan sepenuhnya secara dalam talian. Saya tidak dapat mengikuti kursus saya dengan baik. Bagaimana jika prestasi akademik saya terjejas?

Anda tidak perlu bimbang dengan perkara tersebut kerana Universiti melalui Mesyuarat Senat 2 April 2020 telah memberi fleksibiliti untuk anda iaitu:

i. Tempoh Semester II yang dipanjangkan memberi ruang kepada pensyarah melaksanakan pengajaran mengikut kesesuaian dan pelajar mengikuti kursus dengan sebaiknya melalui dalam talian dan jarak jauh.

ii. Pensyarah telah diminta mengenalpasti pelajar yang mempunyai masalah untuk dibantu menggunakan kaedah yang bersesuaian bagi memenuhi keperluan pembelajaran, termasuk kemungkinan balik ke UTM sekiranya PKP telah berakhir sebelum bulan Jun. Pelajar juga dikehendaki memaklumkan keadaan semasa kepada pensyarah.

iii. Sekiranya PKP masih berterusan selepas Jun, dan semua kaedah dan bantuan telah diusahakan dan pelajar masih tidak mampu mengikuti PdP dengan baik :

a. Keputusan bagi kursus berkaitan akan diberikan status kedudukan tidak selesai (TS) dan pelajar akan diminta menyelesaikan dalam tempoh Semester III. Sekiranya masih tidak selesai, pelajar boleh memohon masa tambahan dengan kebenaran fakulti.

b. Pelajar juga boleh memohon menangguhkan pengajian bagi Semester II ini sebelum 15 Mei 2020 dan semester ini tidak dikira.

The activities of the LnT Semester II 2019/2020 have begun to be fully implemented online. I am not able to follow my course very well. What if my academic performance is affected? You do not need to worry about this as the University through the April 2, 2020 Senate Meeting has provided you with the following flexibility:

i. The extended Semester II period provides an opportunity for lecturers to apply the lessons appropriately and students take courses online and remotely.

ii. Lecturers have been asked to identify students with problems to help with other appropriate methods to meet their learning needs, including allowing students to return to campus to follow lectures at UTM if MCO is lifted before June. Students are also required to inform lecturers of their current situation and challenges.

iii. If MCO continues beyond June, all the methods and assistance have been implemented and students are still unable to effectively follow LnT:

a. The results of the related course will be given a status of incomplete (TS) status and students will be asked to complete it during Semester III. If not completed, students can apply for additional time with faculty permission.

b. Students may also postpone their studies for the current semester before May 15, 2020 so that the current semester will not be counted.

 

17. Sekiranya saya tidak mahu meneruskan pengajian bagi Semester II ini, adakah pihak Universiti membenarkan

Berdasarkan Peraturan Akademik UTM, anda dibenarkan menangguhkan pengajian semester II ini tanpa dikira semester tersebut atas sebab bencana/masalah peribadi. Saudara perlu mengemukakan permohonan rasmi kepada fakulti melalui emel.

If I do not wish to continue my study this semester, does UTM allow?

UTM Academic Rules allow students to defer study because of a disaster/personal problem without counting the semester. Please apply formally to the Faculty by email.

 

18.Jika saya mengambil keputusan untuk menangguhkan pengajian saya, bolehkah saya mendapat pemotongan yuran sebanyak 50%?

Boleh. Pihak Universiti telah meluluskan pemotongan yuran 50% sekiranya anda tarik diri atau tangguh pengajian sebelum 15 Mei 2020. Malah semester ini tidak dikira dalam tempoh pengajian anda.

If I decide to postpone my studies, can I get a 50% fee deduction?

Yes you can. The University has approved a 50% fee deduction if you withdraw or postpone your studies before May 15, 2020. This semester does not count towards the duration of your study.

 

19.Saya tidak dapat memberi penumpuan terhadap sebahagian kursus yang saya ikuti. Bolehkah saya tarik diri (TD) dan bilakah tarikh akhir untuk saya berbuat demikian?

Boleh, anda boleh tarik diri (TD) dari kursus yang anda ikuti mengikut peraturan akademik sedia ada. Tarikh akhir untuk anda tarik diri adalah 15 Mei 2020.

I can’t focus on some of the courses I take. Can I withdraw (TD) and when is my due date?

Yes, you can withdraw (TD) from courses that you follow in accordance with existing academic regulations. The deadline for withdrawal is May 15, 2020.

 

D. Penggunaan Makmal/Use of Laboratories

20. Saya perlu menggunakan kemudahan makmal di UTM untuk melengkapkan Projek Sarjana Muda (PSM) atau projek penyelidikan saya. Boleh saya pulang ke UTM?

Anda perlu merujuk kepada Fakulti dan penyelaras projek sarjana muda tentang keperluan, dan masa untuk kembali ke UTM. Perkara ini adalah tertakluk kepada keputusan pihak kerajaan berkaitan PKP.

I need to use the laboratory facilities at UTM to complete my Bachelor’s project (PSM) or my research project. Can I go back to UTM?

You should consult the Faculty and research project coordinator on the need, and when to return to UTM. This shall depend on the government’s decision regarding the MCO.

 

21.Kursus saya melibatkan kehadiran secara fizikal seperti makmal, studio, kerja lapangan, latihan industri dan projek penyelidikan. Boleh kah saya masuk ke kampus untuk menyelesaikannya?

Boleh tetapi terdapat beberapa keadaan yang perlu anda pertimbangkan :

i. Sekiranya Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan tamat dan keadaan wabak Covid-19 ini benar-benar membolehkan untuk anda balik semula ke kampus.

ii. Anda boleh diberi status seperti dalam jawapan 16(iii)

My courses involve physical presence such as laboratories, studios, fieldwork, industrial training and research projects. Can I go back to the campus to finish it?

Yes you can , however, some situations you should consider:

i. If the Movement Control Order is over and the Covid-19 outbreak really allows you to return to campus.

ii. You can be given the status as in answer 16 (iii)

 

E. Projek Sarjana Muda (PSM), Projek Sarjana atau projek penyelidikan/Bachelor’s Project (PSM), Master Project /Master’s Project or a research project

22. Saya sedang menyiapkan Projek Sarjana Muda (PSM) / projek sarjana/ projek penyelidikan. Sebahagian daripadanya tidak dapat disempurnakan dalam tempoh Semester II sesi 2019/2020 kesan daripada Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan dan Wabak Covid-19. Apa yang perlu saya lakukan?

Anda perlu berbincang dengan penyelia untuk meneruskan kajian sehingga selesai dalam Semester III (semester pendek)

I am preparing a Bachelor’s Project (PSM) /master project/ a research project. Part of my project cannot be completed during the 2nd semester of session 2019/2020 as a result of the Covid-19 Outbreak and Movement Control and Order. What should I do?

You need to discuss with your supervisor to extend your study to Semester III (short semester).

 

23. Bagaimana dengan pembentangan projek akhir sarjana/PSM saya yang telah dijadualkan pada Semester II 20192020?

Fakulti akan menyusun semula jadual pembentangan untuk dilaksanakan secara dalam talian.

What about the presentation of my final undergraduate / PSM project scheduled for Semester II of 20192020?

The faculty will reschedule for the presentation to be done online.

 

F. Latihan Industri/Industrial Training

24. Saya sedang menjalani Latihan Industri (LI), adakah saya perlu teruskan?

Anda perlu meneruskan Latihan Industri (LI) tersebut dengan mematuhi PKP. Sekiranya anda diarahkan untuk bekerja dari rumah, anda perlu mematuhinya. Sekiranya majikan mendapat kebenaran dari Kerajaan Malaysia untuk anda bekerja di lokasi tempat kerja secara shift, anda juga perlu mematuhinya. Sekiranya anda tidak mempunyai kemudahan untuk melengkapkan tugasan yang diberikan oleh majikan, anda boleh memohon cuti dengan kebenaran majikan dan perlu menggantikan jumlah hari cuti tersebut.

I am on Industrial Training (LI), do I need to continue?

You must continue the Industrial Training (LI) in compliance with the MCO. If you are being asked to work from home, you need to comply. If the employer received permission from the Government of Malaysia for you to operate in shift, you are also required to comply. If you do not have the means/facilities to complete the assignment given by the employer, you can apply for leave from the employer, and would need to replace the number of days off.

 

25.Saya akan mengikuti Latihan Industri pada semester pendek sesi 2019/2020 atau Semester I Sesi 2020/2021, apakah perlu saya lakukan?

Latihan industri (LI) akan dijalankan mengikut kalendar akademik baharu. Penyelaras Latihan Industri Fakulti akan memaklumkan secara terperinci proses pelaksanaan LI mengikut keperluan program masing-masing. Sekiranya anda memperolehi tawaran LI lebih awal dan telah selesai semua urusan pembelajaran semester 2 sesi 2019/2020, anda perlu merujuk kepada Penyelaras Latihan Industri Fakulti bagi tujuan penyelarasan. Sekiranya anda tidak memperolehi tawaran kesan daripada pandemik Covid-19, pihak fakulti akan berusaha untuk memastikan keperluan LI dipenuhi mengikut keperluan program.

I will undergo industrial training in a short semester session 2019/2020 or Semester I Session 2020/2021, what should I do?

Industry training will be conducted according to the new academic calendar. The Faculty Industrial Training Coordinator will detail the implementation process of the industrial training according to the needs of their respective programmes. If you have received the industrial training offer early and have completed all your study for Semester 2 Session 2019/2020, you should consult the Faculty Industrial Training Coordinator for coordination purposes. If you do not receive any offers due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the faculty will ensure that the industrial training needs are met according to the programme requirements.

 

G. Laporan Kemajuan bagi pelajar pasca siswazah/Progress report for postgraduate students

 

26. Adakah pelajar Sarjana penyelidikan dan Doktor Falsafah dan mod campuran masih perlu mengisi laporan kemajuan bagi semester ini?

Jika status pelajar aktif, YA anda perlu mengisi laporan kemajuan bermula 19 April 2020 – 14 Mei 2020.

Do the research and mixed-mode students still need to fill out progress reports for this semester?

If the student’s status is active, YES you will need to complete the progress report from 19 April 2020 – 14 May 2020.

 

H. Penghantaran Tesis & Dissertasi/Thesis & Dissertation Submission

 

27. Jika saya telah memenuhi syarat menghantar tesis, adakah saya boleh menghantar tesis bagi tujuan peperiksaan lisan.

Sepanjang tempoh PKP, sekiranya anda telah menyiapkan tesis dan mempunyai dokumen yang lengkap untuk penghantaran tesis, anda boleh menghantar tesis secara online ke email pejabat pengajian siswazah fakulti masing masing. Salinan tesis hardcopy perlu dihantar ke pejabat pengajian siswazah selepas keadaan bertambah baik.

If I have qualified to submit the thesis, can I submit the thesis for the oral examination?

During the MCO period, if you have completed the thesis and have completed the documents for thesis submission, you can submit your thesis online by emailing it to your faculty. Hardcopies of the thesis should be sent to the graduate study office after the situation has improved.

 

28. Saya adalah pelajar penyelidikan pada semester akhir dan tidak dapat menyiapkan tesis pada semester ini kerana pelbagai kesukaran ketika wabak ini. Apa yang perlu saya buat?

Pelajar-pelajar penyelidikan yang berada pada semester akhir akan diberikan tambahan satu semester untuk menyiapkan tesis mereka. Tarikh akhir menghantar tesis adalah pada hari terakhir bekerja Semester I 2020/2021.

I am a research student in the final semester and am unable to complete the thesis this semester due to various difficulties during this outbreak. What should I do?

Students in the final semester will be given an additional semester to complete their thesis. The deadline for submitting the thesis is on the last working day of Semester I 2020/2021.

 

29. Saya adalah pelajar penyelidikan berstatus peperiksaan (sedang buat pembetulan tesis) pada semester ini kerana pelbagai kesukaran ketika wabak ini. Apa yang perlu saya buat?

Pelajar-pelajar penyelidikan berstatus peperiksaan (sedang buat pembetulan tesis) juga diberikan tambahan satu semester untuk menyiapkan tesis mereka. Tarikh akhir menghantar tesis adalah pada hari terakhir bekerja Semester I 2020/2021.

I am a student studying for the status of an examination (in the course of a thesis correction) this semester due to various difficulties during this outbreak. What should I do?

Students with examination status (in the course of thesis correction) is also given an additional semester to complete their thesis. The deadline for submitting the thesis is on the last working day of Semester I 2020/2021.

 

30. Adakah tarikh akhir menghantar tesis kekal pada 27 Ogos 2020 ini?

Ya, tarikh akhir penghantaran tesis pada semester ini kekal pada tarikh ini. Sebarang perubahan akan dimaklumkan oleh pihak SPS dari semasa ke semasa.

Will there be a change in the thesis submission deadline of August 27, 2020?

The thesis submission deadline for this semester remains on August 27, 2020. SPS will notify of any changes from time to time.

 

31. Saya adalah pelajar kemasukan sebelum sesi 2016/2017 yang layak untuk mendapat pengecualian yuran sekiranya saya telah menghantar tesis ke fakulti. Walau bagaimanapun, dengan pelaksanaan PKP, saya tidak dapat menghantar tesis. Adakah saya masih layak mendapat pengecualian yuran tersebut?

Ya. Tarikh akhir menghantar permohonan pengecualian/pengurangan yuran telah dilanjutkan sehingga 30 April 2020. Disebabkan PKP, anda hanya perlu mendapatkan pengesahan dari penyelia (menerusi emel atau aplikasi yang bersesuaian) sebagai bukti bahawa tesis anda telah siap.

I am a student entering before the 2016/2017 session which is eligible for a fee exemption if I submit the thesis to the faculty. However, with the implementation of the MCO, I cannot submit the thesis. Am I still eligible for the exemption?

Yes. The deadline for application of reduction/exemption fee has been extended to 30th April 2020. Due to MCO, you will need to get confirmation from your supervisor (via email or the appropriate application) as an evidence that your thesis have been completed.

 

I. Peperiksaan Lisan/Oral Examination (viva voce)

 

32. Saya telah menghantar tesis dan menunggu tarikh peperiksaan lisan. Bagaimana saya boleh tahu proses tersebut?

Urusan peperiksaan lisan ditangguhkan sepanjang tempoh PKP. Urusan peperiksaan lisan boleh berjalan secara online selepas tempoh PKP selepas mendapat persetujuan dari semua pihak yang terlibat dalam sesi tersebut. Sebagai pelajar, anda akan dihubungi untuk penetapan tarikh peperiksaan lisan yang sesuai. Anda berhak untuk menyatakan persetujuan (atau sebaliknya) ke atas tarikh yang dicadangkan.

I’ve submitted the thesis and am waiting for the oral exam date. How do I know the process?

Oral examinations (viva) are postponed throughout the MCO period. A viva can be conducted online after the MCO upon approval from all parties involved. As a student, you will be consulted by the Faculty to determine a new oral examination date. You have the right to agree/disagree on a suitable examination date.

 

J. Penajaan/Scholarship

33. Adakah elaun bulanan Zamalah saya dibayar ketika situasi COVID-19 ini?

Applications received until 8 March 2020 are being processed by the SPS and will be taken to the next Scholarship Committee Meeting. SPS will update and publicize the results on UTMSmart, UTM website / social media.

35. Saya berminat untuk meneruskan pengajian ke peringkat Sarjana/PhD. Adakah saya masih boleh membuat permohonan program pascasiswazah di UTM?

Ya. Anda boleh membuat permohonan secara atas talian di admission.utm.my yang masih dibuka seperti biasa. Walau bagaimanapun, permohonan akan disemak dan diproses dalam tempoh satu (1) hingga dua (2) minggu.

I am interested in pursuing a Master’s degree / PhD. Can I still apply for a postgraduate program at UTM?

Yes. You can apply online through website admission.utm.my as it still open as usual. However, applications will be reviewed and processed within one (1) to two (2) weeks.

 

36. Saya telah menerima surat tawaran untuk meneruskan pengajian secara penyelidikan bagi Semester II, Sesi 2019/2020. Adakah saya dibenarkan mendaftar dalam waktu terdekat ini?

Untuk makluman, proses pendaftaran pelajar baharu bagi Semester II, Sesi 2019/2020 akan ditangguhkan sehingga Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) berakhir. Anda boleh mendaftar selepas tempoh PKP berakhir bergantung kepada pemakluman rasmi dibuat oleh Kerajaan Malaysia. Walau bagaimanapun, tarikh akhir pendaftaran program mod penyelidikan bagi Semester II, Sesi 2019/2020 adalah pada 30 Mei 2020.

I received an offer letter to continue my research for Semester II, Session 2019/2020. Am I allowed to sign up soon?

For your information, the new student registration for Semester II, Session 2019/2020 will be postponed until the MCO ends. You can come to register after the MCO ends which will be announced by the Malaysian Government. However, the deadline for registration of the research mode program for Semester II, Session 2019/2020 is on May 30, 2020.

 

37. Saya telah mendapat surat tawaran pengajian peringkat pascasiswazah di UTM dan perlu mendaftar dalam tempoh terdekat. Bolehkah saya menangguhkan pendaftaran saya?

Ya. Anda hanya perlu klik Tangguh pada email surat tawaran dan UTM akan menghantar surat tawaran yang baharu bagi sesi kemasukan Semester I, Sesi 2020/2021 (Ambilan September) melalui email. Tiada sebarang caj wang proses baharu akan dikenakan.

I received a postgraduate study offer letter at UTM and will need to register soon. Can I defer my registration?

Yes. You have to click on the Confirmation of Deferment link from your offer letter email. UTM will issue a re-offer letter for Semester I, Session 2020/2021 (September Intake) through email. No new processing fee imposed.

 

38. Saya merupakan pelajar tahun akhir Diploma UTM dan berminat untuk meneruskan pengajian ke peringkat Sarjana Muda di UTM. Memandangkan tempoh PKP dilanjutkan sehingga 14 April, adakah tempoh permohonan juga akan dilanjutkan?

Permohonan Kemasukan Program Sarjana Muda bagi Sesi Akademik 2020/2021 telah dilanjutkan sehingga 17 April 2020 bagi calon Lepasan Diploma UTM, Asasi UTM dan Asasi UTM-Mara. Bagi calon lepasan Diploma UTM, anda boleh menghantar dokumen sehingga 30 April 2020 ke pejabat SRAD.

I am a final year UTM Diploma student. I am interested in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at UTM. With the extension of the MCO until April 14, will the application period be extended as well?

Application for Undergraduate Program Admission for Academic Session 2020/2021 has been extended until April 17, 2020 for UTM Diploma, UTM Foundation, and UTM-Mara Foundation candidates. For UTM Diploma candidates, you can submit the documents by April 30, 2020 to SRAD office.

 

39. Saya merupakan pelajar Diploma UTM/Asasi UTM telah membuat permohonan melalui sistem permohonan UTM, walau bagaimanapun, saya masih belum mendapat keputusan MUET. Bolehkah saya meneruskan permohonan?

Ya. Anda diminta untuk melengkapkan permohonan dalam tempoh yang ditetapkan secara atas talian. Pihak SRAD akan menghubungi calon untuk mengemukakan keputusan MUET untuk memenuhi syarat kemasukan yang ditetapkan oleh UTM.

I am a UTM Diploma/ UTM Foundation student who has applied through UTM application system. However, I have not yet received the MUET result. Can I continue my application?

Yes. You are required to complete the online application within the stated period. SRAD will contact the candidate to submit MUET result in order to meet UTM entry requirements.

Additional FAQ V1.0 (AddFAQ) Senat Decision on 2 April 2020 regarding TnL Activities for Semester II, 2019/2020

1. Mengapakah kenyataan UTM kelihatan bercanggah atau berbeza dari pekeliling yang dikeluarkan oleh KPT dalam penetapan tarikh permulaan semester?

“KPT MENYARANKAN agar Universiti Awam (UA) menyambung semula Semester II Sesi 2019/2020 seawal 27 April 2020 dan selewat-lewatnya 1 Jun 2020”.  KPT dalam kenyataan yang dikeluarkan nya pada 28 Mac 2020 mengambilkira bahawa pelajar perlu pulang ke kampus untuk mengikuti kuliah secara bersemuka. Dalam hal ini, KPT telah menegaskan agar semua UA dan IPTS bukan sahaja mesti mematuhi PKP, malah berusaha agar pelajar tidak pulang ke kampus secara besar-besaran sebaik sahaja tamat PKP demi mengelakkan risiko penularan wabak COVID19.  Tarikh permulaan kuliah pada 27 April disarankan demi mengelakkan pergerakan pelajar secara besar-besaran ke IPT.

UTM telah terlebih dahulu mengumumkan pelaksanaan kuliah secara dalam talian/jarak jauh untuk bermula pada 1 April 2020 sepanjang semester, dan telah mengarahkan pelajar untuk tinggal di rumah dalam tempoh yang sama. Oleh kerana UTM tidak merancang melaksanakan kuliah secara bersemuka, maka tidak timbul kemungkinan pergerakan besar-besaran pelajar.  Maka tiada keperluan bagi UTM memulakan kuliah pada 27 April seperti yang disarankan. 

 

Why do UTM statements on setting the starting date of the semester appear to be contradictory to those stated in the circular issued by MOHE?

“MOHE recommends Public Universities (UA) to resume Semester II Session 2019/2020 at the earliest, 27 April 2020 and latest by 1st June 2020”.  MOHE in its statement issued on the 28th of March 2020 took into account that students should return to campus for face-to-face lectures.  Following this, MOHE has stressed that all Public and Private Universities (IPTS) must strictly comply with MCO, and make all the necessary efforts to discourage students from returning to campus on a large scale right after MCO is lifted as a way to avoid the risk of spreading COVID 19 outbreak.  The semester commencement date suggested by MOHE, which is 27 April, is to prevent mass movement of students to HEI.

UTM has announced earlier that OL/distance lectures would start on the 1st of April 2020 and would be implemented throughout the semester, and has directed students to stay at their residence during that period.  Since UTM has no plan for face-to-face lectures, there is no possibility of massive students’ movement.  Therefore, there is no requirement for UTM to start lectures on 27th of April as recommended by MOHE.

 

 

 

2.  Adakah KPT menerima pelaksanaan yg dibuat oleh UTM?

UTM dan juga banyak lagi UA dan IPTS lain telah diberi kebenaran dari KPT untuk meneruskan rancangan asal masing-masing bagi memulakan kuliah bahagian ke-2 Semester II, sebelum 27 April dengan syarat tiada melibatkan pergerakan pelajar yang membawa risiko penularan wabak COVID19 dan dapat memastikan tiada pelajar ketinggalan dalam PnP. UTM yang melaksanakan kuliah secara online dan jarak jauh telah menyediakan pelbagai perancangan dan langkah kontinjen untuk memastikan tiada pelajar ketinggalan. Tarikh permulaan kuliah bahagian ke-2 Semester II 2019/2020 adalah kekal pada 1 April sebagaimana yang diluluskan oleh Senat UTM.

 

Has MoHE approved the implementation outlined by UTM?

UTM, as well as many other institutions of higher learning have been authorized by MoHE to proceed with their respective initial plans to resume the second half of Semester II before 27 April, on condition that no movement is involved among the students which will risk the spread of COVID19 and that no students will be left out. UTM which will be executing online and remote learning, has prepared many contingency plans to ensure no student is left out.  The starting date of lecture for the second part of Semester II 2019/2020 remains unchanged on 1 April as per approved by the UTM Senate.

 

3. Saya difahamkan ramai pensyarah dan pelajar belum bersedia dengan kuliah secara online pada 1 April?

a. Kaji selidik kesediaan pensyarah melaksanakan PnP secara dalam talian yang dibuat oleh UTMLead bermula 24 Mac ke atas 1131 orang pensyarah orang pensyarah menunjukkan bahawa sejumlah 71% bersedia, 24% tidak pasti, dan hanya 5% tidak bersedia (kumpulan 24% dan 5% ini telah ramai mengikuti tutorial online learning yang dianjurkan oleh UTMLead, oleh itu, bilangan yang bersedia telah bertambah pada ketika ini berbanding dengan pada tarikh survey di buat 24 Mac lepas). 

b. Kajiselidik ke UGS ke atas sejumlah 8966 pelajar telah dilaksanakan pada 23 Mac menunjukkan sejumlah 85% pelajar bersedia dengan pembelajaran online (harus diingat, keputusan ini di peroleh sebelum pelajar memahami bahawa pembelajaran online tidak bermaksud pembelajaran secara “live” yang memerlukan bandwidth yang tinggi.  Namun, pada masa kaji selidik dibuat, peratusan yang menjawab bersedia ialah begitu tinggi!). Kami berkeyakinan bahawa dengan penerangan, sokongan, interaksi serta bantuan yang lebih menyeluruh untuk memastikan tiada pelajar yang ketinggalan, maka bilangan pelajar yang bersedia dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh selain pembelajaran online akan meningkat dengan begitu tinggi.

 

I have been informed that many lecturers and students are not yet ready for online lectures on the 1st of April?

a.    A survey of lecturers’ readiness to conduct online TnL organized by UTMLead starting 24 March among 1131 lecturers showed that 71% are ready, 24% are not sure, and only 5% are not ready (the 24% and 5% groups have mostly followed online learning tutorials organized by UTMLead, therefore, the percentage of readiness has increased as compared to when the survey was previously conducted on the 24th of March).

b.  UGS survey conducted among 8966 students on the 23rd of March showed 85% are ready for online learning (note that the response was obtained before students understood that online learning does not mean live sessions which require a high bandwidth. Nonetheless, at the time of the survey, the vast majority of students responded that they were ready!). We trust that, with sufficient awareness, support, interaction as well as a more comprehensive assistance to ensure that no student is left behind, the number of students who are ready for distant and online learning will increase.

 

4. Apakah langkah UTM untuk mengambilkira kekangan pensyarah dan pelajar?

a.   UTM telah mengambilkira segala keperluan serta pandangan seluruh warga UTM, justeru bersetuju untuk melanjutkan tempoh Semester II 2019/2020 dengan menambah 4 minggu tempoh tambahan semester, iaitu dari 14 minggu tempoh asal sebelum kenyataan KPT, kepada 18 minggu.  Berdasarkan kalendar terkini UTM, kuliah bahagian ke-2 Semester II sesi 2019/2020 UTM akan bermula 1 April sehingga 24 Julai 2020 (Sila Rujuk Kalendar Semester II UTM yang telah di kemaskini dan diluluskan oleh Senat UTM)

b. Langkah-langkah pelaksanaan PnP secara terperinci yang mengambilkira pelbagai senario telah dirancang. Antara penyelesaian yang dipersetujui ialah pelaksanaan aktiviti PnP alternatif yang melibatkan tugasan, projek dan pentaksiran; pelaksanaan aktiviti PnP bersemuka secara terhad pada masa yang ditetapkan di penghujung semester, kerjasama dengan universiti di lokaliti pelajar, status tidak selesai, penangguhan pendaftaran matapelajaran serta penangguhan pengajian tanpa pengiraan semester.  Fakuti dan sekolah dengan kerjasama pengarah program dan pensyarah kursus diberi amanah untuk membantu pelajar dalam hal ini.

 

What are the steps taken by UTM to consider the challenges faced by lecturers and students?

 

a.    UTM has considered all the needs and opinions of UTM community and thus, has agreed to extend the duration of Semester II 2019/2020 session by adding 4 more weeks of semester duration from the original 14 weeks before the statement made by MOHE, to 18 weeks. Based on the latest UTM calendar, the second part of Semester II 2019/2020 session will begin from the 1st of April to the 24th of July 2020 (please refer to the Semester II 2019/2020 calendar that has been revised and approved by the UTM Senate)

 

b.    A detailed TnL implementation taking into account different scenarios has been planned. Among the solutions agreed are the implementation of alternative TnL activities involving tasks, projects and assessments; restricted face-to-face TnL activities within a given duration at the end of the semester, collaboration with universities within students’ locality, the TD ‘Tidak Selesai’ (Incomplete) status, deferment of course registration and deferment of study (the deferred semester will not be counted in the total semesters used). The faculty and schools, with the assistance of program directors and course lecturers are entrusted to help students in this matter.

 

5. Mengapa UTM perlu bermula awal?  Apa isunya jika UTM bermula 27 April?

a.   Permulaan 1 April akan memberi warga UTM masa tambahan selama empat minggu bagi melaksanakan kuliah pada Semester II.  Ini memberikan fleksibiliti kepada SEMUA warga UTM, terutama bagi majoriti staf dan pelajar yang telah bersedia, untuk melaksanakan PnP dengan lebih berkesan, dan dalam masa yang sama menguruskan pelbagai kekangan yang dihadapi oleh pensyarah dan pelajar.

b. Memulakan semester pada penghujung April akan mengurangkan fleksibiliti dan memberi kekangan kepada staf dan pelajar UTM dalam melaksanakan dan menyelesaikan PnP dengan pendekatan baharu secara online dan jarak jauh, ditambah dengan tekanan masa yang menjadi kian singkat untuk melaksanakan PnP dalam tempoh yang hanya berbaki 8 minggu berbanding 12 minggu (12 minggu bila UTM bermula 1 April). 

c.   UTM juga berkeyakinan bahawa jika bahagian ke-2 Semester II dimulakan lewat (iaitu, pada penghujung April), maka warga UTM secara rasmi akan berada dalam mode bercuti tambahan (selepas bercuti sejak 18/3). Ini besar kemungkinan akan menyebabkan persiapan-persiapan penting perkuliahan tidak dapat dimulakan sehingga sejurus sebelum semester bermula pada penghujung April, seterusnya mengakibatkan banyak pembaziran masa.

 

  Why is UTM starting class early? What is the issue if UTM starts on the 27th of April?

a.   Resuming semester 2 on the 1st of April will give the UTM community an additional four weeks to carry out lecture for Semester II. This will provide flexibility to ALL UTM community, especially to the majority of staff and students who are ready to carry out efficient TnL activities while managing other constraints faced by both lecturers and students.

b.  Resuming the semester at the end of April will decrease the flexibility and add constraints to UTM staff and students in carrying out and completing TnL using the online and remote approach that staff and students have just begun to get used to. This adds to the pressure of an even shorter time to complete TnL activities in the remaining 8 weeks as compared to 12 weeks (12 weeks if UTM begins on the 1st of April).

c.  UTM is also confident that, if the second half of Semester II is delayed (i.e. starting at the end of April), the UTM community will officially continue to be in extended holiday mode (after taking a break since 18/3). This is likely to hold back essential teaching preparations until just before the start of the semester at the end of April, thus resulting in a significant of time loss.

 

6. Bagaimana jika staf dan pelajar belum bersedia dengan PnP secara dalam talian dan jarak jauh pada 1 April? Apa yg perlu kami buat? 

a.       Pensyarah boleh mengambil peluang untuk menggunakan tempoh empat minggu tambahan kepada Semester II 2019/2020 untuk merancang pelaksanakan minggu kuliah secara fleksibel, dengan syarat pensyarah mematuhi ketetapan masa dan hari kuliah, dan mematuhi sepenuhnya jumlah jam pertemuan (contact hours) serta SLT (student learning time) bagi tempoh 1 semester.

b.       Bagi majoriti warga UTM (staff dan pelajar) yang telah bersedia untuk memulakan perkuliahan secara dalam talian dan jarak jauh, anda boleh bermula pada 1 April sebaik sahaja bahagian kedua Semester II bermula sebagaimana yang diumumkan sejak sekian lama.

c.       Warga UTM juga boleh mengambil peluang dari fleksibiliti (4 minggu tambahan yang diberikan) untuk mempelajari dan menguasai PnP dalam talian dan jarak jauh sambil memulakan persiapan awal kuliah secara “on the job” pada mulai 1 April.

d.       Masa tambahan ini juga boleh digunakan untuk mengikuti kursus PdP dalam talian/jarak jauh secara intensif bersama UTMLead sambil melaksanakan persiapan PnP bagi minoriti warga UTM yang amat kurang pendedahan kepada PnP dalam talian.

e.       UTM mencadangkan supaya pensyarah juga mempertimbangkan supaya empat minggu tambahan ini dikhaskan untuk memberikan pelajar masa untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan kuliah dalam talian dan jarak jauh, terutama pada minggu-minggu awal perkuliahan Semester II bahagian kedua (bermula 1 April).

f.        UTM menganggap bahawa aktiviti a. hingga e. adalah sebahagian dari aktiviti akademik khas dalam Semester II yang diperuntukkan bagi warga UTM menguruskan semua kekangan semasa krisis COVID19.

 

If the staff and students are not ready for online and distant T&L on the 1st of April? What should we do?

a.       Lecturers may take the opportunity to use the additional four weeks of Semester II 2019/2020 to plan a flexible weekly schedule for class/lecture provided that lecturers adhere to the assigned lecture timing, and that the the total number of contact hours and SLT (student learning time) for the entire semester are fully complied with.

b.     The majority of UTM staff and students who are ready to start online and remote class/lecture, can begin on the 1st of April as soon as the second half of Semester II commences as announced.

c.       UTM staff and students can also take advantage of the flexibility (4 additional weeks provided) to learn and to master online and remote T&L while working on-the-job making essential lecture preparations beginning from 1st of April.

 

d.         Those with little exposure to online TnL can use the additional time can to follow intensive online and remote TnL courses organised by UTMLead, while making essential TnL preparations.

 

e.      UTM recommends that lecturers also consider using these additional weeks to allow students time to adjust to online and remote lectures, especially in the early weeks of the second half of Semester II (beginning 1st of April).

f.     UTM considers that activities a. to e. as part of special academic activities and obligations in the 2nd semester, allocated for the UTM community to cope with COVID-19 challenges.

 

 

 

 

 

7. Adakah pertambahan 4 minggu tempoh Semester II menyebabkan bertambahnya beban PnP?

Pensyarah perlu memastikan bahawa jumlah jam pertemuan (contact hours) PnP serta SLT (student learning time) bagi tempoh 1 semester dipatuhi sepenuhnya sebagaimana semester lazim tanpa menambah bebanan PnP. Pertambahan 4 minggu tempoh Semester II adalah berhasrat memberikan fleksibiliti yang besar untuk pensyarah menguruskan persiapan PnP dalam keadaan krisis, belajar kaedah PnP online dan jarak jauh, memberi masa pelajar menyesuaikan diri dengan PnP online sambil melaksanakan kewajipan masing-masing secara “on-the-job” pada kadar yang munasabah. 

 

Does a 4-week addition to the duration of Semester II result in an increase in the TnL load?

Lecturers should ensure that the total number of TnL contact hours and SLT (Student Learning Time) for a duration of 1 semester is totally adhered to, similar to that of the regular semester without adding any TnL load. The 4-week addition to Semester 2 is for the purpose of giving lecturers significant flexibility to manage TnL preparations during a crisis, to equip themselves with the online and remote TnL instructions, giving students time to adapt to online TnL while fulfilling lecturers’ obligations on-the-job, at a reasonable pace.
