‘Postgraduate Student section provides much of the same information as ‘Undergraduate students’ with a little addition to the information such as funding, financial aids, loans, accommodations etc. which is managed by our ‘School of Graduate Studies’ (SPS) .

Here, we have campus maps of our Main Campus in Skudai and our branch Kuala Lumpur City Campus. There is also information regarding bus schedules in UTM and the guest houses available.

Parents need not worry as we provide the best accommodations for UTM students. Parents can get a glimpse of our Residential Colleges, our sports and recreations facilities, student unions, eatery places and our free internet services to all students. We also have a Health Centre that provides the best medical care for students for free.

Parents who are coming to UTM are advised to read our Getting to UTM section where we provide instructions to get here from the Sultan Ismail International Airport , from Johor Bahru and from the PLUS Highway .

We also provide contact persons for parents to consult with such as the Office of Student Affairs, the Public Relations and Corporate Communication Unit and other relevant personnels. This can be found in ‘Who to Contact ’.

The construction of the Sultan Ismail Mosque began in 1986 and was completed in 1990. The mosque can accommodate about 10,000 worshippers and has many facilities such as mini-library, seminar rooms, lecture hall, morgue and offices. The planning of the Skudai campus was based on the concept of centralising the main activities of common interests around the mosque. The mosque is located right at the centre of the campus surrounded by other buildings within walking distance, and is the most outstanding building of the university.

Its location at the centre of the campus is in line with the concept of Islamic learning in which the mosque is the source of the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge and in life as well with the university motto, “For God and Mankind”.

Dining

UTM campus have at least 20 food centre (cafeteria), where the student can have breakfast, lunch as well as dinner at a discounted student rate. Some cafeteria is special and open 24 hours a day and some even offering western food style. Average spending on food per day is RM5.00. If you prefer canned drink, the canteen is everywhere inside the academics area. The cafeteria are a walking distances from the hostels.

There are more than 100 catering outlets across the campus, including air-conditioned restaurants, cafeterias, fast-food restaurants selling a whole variety of food including traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western cuisines. There are many shops on campus including bookstores, photocopy centers, mobile phone centers, news agents, launderettes, hair dressing and beauty saloons, computer shops, travel agencies and more than 20 mini grocery stores, mostly within the students’ residential colleges.

Just outside UTM campus, through second gate (you have to go through padang kawad), there is McDonald Family Restaurant that open 24Hr per day.

Nearby Shopping Places

Basic necessity for a students (not luxury) can be found at discounted rate in the campus. There is a Kedai Universiti (The University Shop), managed by Uni-Technologies Sdn Bhd., a business arm of the University. It offers a wide range of high quality goods including stationery, paintings, batik, ceramic and clothing items, some of them imprinted with the University’s logo. It is located on the ground floor of the administration building.

If you need to buy things which are not available in the campus, or you want go shopping or eating outside, there is a shopping centre, eg. JUSCO and GIANT are just around 3km from UTM. The bus services are just about 250 meters away from the mosque heading toward south.

Bank & Post Office

CIMB Bank becoming an official bank for UTM. But there are more than ten ATM/Teller booth machine of Bank Simpanan Nasional and RHB bank in the campus. Bank Muamalat is just 1 km away from FKA toward UTM football fields. If you go further 3km down south to Taman Universiti, at least there is another 3 banks including Maybank, CIMB Bank, Eon Bank, Hong Leong Bank and Bank Rakyat.

One post office is located inside the campus, inside student union buildings. Pos-Laju and pay-bill services are there, and they open post office for the whole weeks office hour, except Sunday.

Petrol Station

If you ran out of petrol while travelling aroung the campus, at least there is 21 petrol kiosk including Petronas, Shell, BHP, Caltex and Esso Mobil around 5km radius from UTM at Taman Universiti, Taman Sri Pulai and Taman Sri Skudai.

University Short-distance Tranportation Service

The University also provides transport services for students to commute from their on-campus residential colleges or off-campus accommodation to classes. There are more than 30 buses that provide services from 7.15 am to 11.30 pm everyday. The off-campus residential areas covered by the service include Taman Universiti, Taman Sri Skudai, Taman Sri Pulai, Taman Teratai, Taman Desa Skudai and Taman Sri Putri. In addition, there are also public buses such as the Transit Link and Maju bus companies, which ply between Taman Universiti via the ring road of the campus to Johor Bahru City Centre.

Long-distance Transportation Services

Main bus station and train service is in Johor Bahru, 15 km away. But most of the bus services to north of Malaysia will pass through Taman Sri Putri bus stop. All long distance express buses will stop and take extra passengers from Taman Sri Putri that, 3 km from UTM campus. At Taman Sri Putri, ticket counters for these bus services are also available. I If you prefer the convenience flight services, you can take your flight at Senai Airport, Senai which is approximately 20 km from UTM.
