Assoc. Prof. Dr. Srithar Rajoo
Dr Rajoo has been an academic in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for over 10 years, where he has held various positions including Head of the Automotive Laboratory and Head of the Internal Combustion Engine research group. His areas of specialization include engine boosting and downsizing, turbomachinery and waste heat recovery from internal combustion engines.
Prof. Ricardo Martinez Botas
Professor Martinez-Botas holds the chair of Turbomachinery at Imperial College London where he has worked as an academic for over 20 years. He is also a visiting Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. His areas of specialization include unsteady flows in turbomachinery, with particular application to turbocharger aerodynamics, heat transfer in turbomachinery and waste heat recovery from internal combustion engines.
Dato' Prof. Ir. Alias Mohd Noor
Professor Alias Mohd Noor obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Turbomachinery) at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, in 1990. He is actively involved in the Turbomachinery Research Group at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, specializing in the areas of turbocharger design (sizing and matching), biodiesel combustion engines, waste heat energy recovery, ceramic coating of radial turbine volute casings for turbocharger applications and heat transfer.
Dr. Maria E Barrera-Medrano
UTM RESEARCH FELLOW AT IMPERIAL COLLEGE LONDON
Dr. Barrera-Medrano graduated from University of Oviedo with a Degree in Chemical Engineering and a Masters in Energy Efficiency in December 2012. She spent 1 year working in the BASF SE in the chemical modelling department before joining an international project under Marie Curie Fellowship program – Energy SmartOps FP7 European Community program. The specific topic within the European project she worked on relates to the development of modelling methodology for process turbo-machinery, specifically in centrifugal compressors. After completing FP7 European program, she started her PhD in the turbocharger group (led by Prof. Ricardo Martinez-Botas) at Imperial College, investigating the effect of unsteady flows in a turbocharger centrifugal compressor for automotive application. Having completed her PhD in 2017, she is now actively engaged with the activities of the Centre of Low Carbon Transport (LoCARtic), based at Imperial College London, managing and coordinating international projects/collaborations.

Dr. Mohd Azman Abas
Dr. Mohd Azman Abas is a Senior Lecturer in the aeronautics, automotive and marine department and Researcher for Low Carbon Transport of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). He graduated from University of Hertfordshire in Automotive Engineering in 2004. He then spent 12 years working as a Powertrain Development Engineer with PROTON in engine development before obtaining his PhD in 2016 in the field of drive cycle. His main research interest is in engine testing, drive cycle and energy recovery in IC engine.
Dr. Muhamad Hasbullah Padzillah
Dr. Chiong Meng Soon
Chiong Meng Soon is currently a senior lecturer at UTM Centre for Low Carbon Transport. He completed his PhD at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2015 investigating on the one-dimentional pulse flow turbine modelling, a project which is in close collaboration with the Turbomachinery Group of Imperial College London. Previously, he received his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2010 also from UTM. His main research interest lies in advanced turbocharger modelling and waste heat energy recovery in IC engine.
Nur Izwanne bt Mahyon
Izwanne received her Bachelor’s degree (Chemical Engineering) in 2011 and Master’s Degree (Safety, Health and Environment) in 2012 from UTM. She is currently doing her PhD at Imperial College London (Chemical Engineering), with a project focusing on the integration of membrane technology with exhaust treatment. Her main research interests include; water and gas purification, membrane technology, and exhaust treatment.
