Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Water Security (IPASA), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with the support from The Asian Network on Climate Science and Technology (ANCST), and co-organized by the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Initiative of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (SEADPRI-UKM), and Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), coordinated the conference on Flood catastrophes in a changing environment (CFCCE). CFCCE was held in UTM International Campus, Kuala Lumpur on 15th -16th November 2016. The conference theme is unique and rather peculiar “Integrating EVERYTHING”, which was aimed to reflect the complexity involved in dealing with issues regarding calamity or catastrophes. Topics presented in the conference covered three main phases which falls into three main categories of Pre Disaster, Present/ during Disaster and Post disaster. These processes involve immense planning, formulation of strategy, preparedness at all levels including the community, early warning system, rescue operation, and dealing with the traumatized victims. “Integrating EVERYTHING” broadly covered all disciplines and matters related to Flood management.
The conference was made successful by special invited key note sessions presented by eminent speakers from Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, China, India, Hong Kong and Malaysia whom are experts in flood disaster related fields. This report on managing flood catastrophes to advance climate change adaptation is drawn primarily from the presentations and discussions of the key note speakers, researchers, practitioners and policy makers from more than 50 institutions and 8 countries whom participated during the CFCCE. Issues highlighted include advances in climate modeling and weather forecasts with emphasize on Integrated urban flood management, technology driven solutions, preparing risk maps of future hazard, health implications of major floods, advance modeling techniques, Big data Analytics and management of flood water as resource.
The conference comprised by 10 keynote presentations and 28 oral presentations from local and international experts and attended by over 110 participants. Topics presented by the invited guest speakers are as follows:

· Flood Modification and Management in Thailand: Case study for the Chao Phraya River Basin, Bangkok and Hat Yai Cities by Dr P. Suppataratarn from TEAM Consultancing Engineering and Management, Thailand.
· Management of Flood Water as resource, by Ir Md Khairi Selamat, from Department of Irrigation and Drainage, Malaysia.
· Land Use impact on Major Flood, by Prof Z.Yusop from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia
· River and Drainage Modelling-Managing the difficulties and challenges by Mr A.J. Hassan from HR Wallingford, Malaysia
· Health Implications of Major Floods by Prof J.H. Hashim from United Nation University- International Institure for Glocal Health, Malaysia.
