Speaker’s Profile:

Wahidul trained as a Mechanical Engineer, researching the performance of diesel engine using biogas fuel (http://lib.buet.ac.bd:8080/xmlui/handle/123456789/1548). He has a Masters in Environmental Technology from Imperial College London and a PhD in Sustainable Futures from the University of Technology, Sydney. Wahidul teaches and coordinates postgraduate units on Cleaner Production Tools, Global Sustainability Studies, Environmental Studies, and Sustainable Energy and a core undergraduate Engineering unit, Engineering for Sustainable Development. Wahidul has carried out extensive life cycle assessment research on greenhouse gas emissions from the Australian agricultural, alternative fuels, building and construction, manufacturing, mining and water sectors in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change, the Grains Research and Development Commission (GRDC), Department of Agriculture and Food, WA, University of Western Australia, Department of Primary Industries, Victoria Enterprise Connect, Worley Persons and Recom Engineering. Wahidul also completed a project on the techno-economic assessment of greenhouse gas mitigation potential in Kwinana Industrial Area, WA, for the Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing (CSRP).

He has worked as a Research Engineer in the Energy Program at the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok where he collaborated with researchers from five Asian countries to develop policies appropriate to mitigating different levels of greenhouse gases from the electricity generating sectors of these countries. Wahidul has also been an Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, Khulna University, Bangladesh. Prior to joining SEG, Wahidul was a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales where he developed sustainable energy and water management plans for the rural community.
