Kelab Fotokreatif was formed at the end of 1985/1986 session by a group of former student members of the club from UTM Kuala Lumpur. They are responsible for acting to form a committee headed by Mr. Zaibidin Ridzuan. Since then, the club began to operate as extra-curricular clubs. However, the activities carried out are limited. This is because the club facing many problems in terms of equipment and lack of finance. After 1988, the new leader can not be identified. The old leaders are not leaving any ‘property’ whether in the form of money or human resources (lining of the committee).
In the 1989/1990 session, the students from Jalan Semarak campus mostly from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has taken the initiative to promote and revive the club is close to “extinction” of this. Thanks to their efforts and new leadership, which is headed by Mr. Zohairen Mohamad Sori, eventually Kelab Fotokreatif, Skudai campus is able to breathe again.
Drastic measures have been several new members to revive the club successfully before the session 1989/1990 and eventually wipe out all the dark. They themselves have to initiative strive to attract the attention of the Hal Ehwal Pelajar (HEP), now known as Hal Ehwal Mahasiswa & Alumni (HEMA). Various activities were conducted successfully so entrusted by the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to be the official photographer on 13th UTM Convocation Ceremony for the first time in year 1989.
The result of their efforts and dedication, the Kelab Fotokreatif began stepping away and getting stronger with clear goals. Their success was proven when the club was able to have their own photography equipment and a personal computer. The management of the club is so strong and effective has attracted Axis Photo Trading, JB to sponsor the club in implementing the activities of photography. In addition, the club has also signed several agreements in the printing photos business with a few shops in around Skudai and Johor Bahru.
Nowaday, Kelab Fotokreatif have published many professional photographer such as Munzir Fauzi Photography, Azam Nurmaya and others.
With full equipment, Kelab Fotokreatif provide professional services to members and provide services to citizens, especially in UTM and local community in general.
In the development of such a good reputation for clubs, organizations would need a good leader and a more robust line of succession to continue its growth. Thus, it is our hope Kelab Fotokreatif for leadership to be appointed will continue to develop once did the University Club.
