8th Innovation Competition for UTM Students

IC 8 copy

In this challenging world where the resources become limited, humans are pushed to think beyond imagination. The solutions to our every day’s problems are worth to be revisited to find other economical yet practical solutions.

In this 8th edition of Innovation competition, we provide a platform for the UTM undergraduate students to unleash and share their creative ideas to propose new innovation solutions, based on the following themes:

1) Lighting

Lamp, creative wall design, natural source of light, or any of the combination might be able provide more effective lighting system in any space or area. Creative solutions might cheer up the mood or even provide cost effective approach.

2) Improving Community

A specific solution for a problem to a targeted community. A farmer might need better watering system, a crane driver needs better alarm system to avoid accidents during lifting, and pedestrian need good warning system when any vehicles are approaching. There are plethora of situations the community face in everyday’s life that need attention, and surely we can help them with the solution.

3) Creative souvenirs

As souvenir making industry is growing exponentially,a new design of creative souvenirs is the way forward to remain competitive in the business. Proposal of any new concept or design of souvenirs, or a new look of currently available on-the-shelf souvenirs will be the starting point.

Mini The Great Lab Workshop

Mini Great Lab Banner 1 April 2015 2 copy

The Great Lab (TGL) is a student-led initiative to gather industrial problem statements from science, technology and engineering companies, and challenge all Malaysians overseas to solve them. TGL, my friends, is a dare.

We started off in a little meeting room in London. Engineers and scientists from 9 different universities in France and UK came together to discuss technology advancement in our home country and how we can contribute to it. It was then we realized how little we know about our home – we know nothing of the vast solar panel fields or the world class fabrication plants, the Olympic standards of our communication unit development capabilities, or the cutting edge microprocessor research. We want to know more, see more, and do more.

Hence TGL was born. You will be exposed to the current state of the advanced research going on in Malaysia, through seminars, workshops, interactive sessions with professionals, and industrial mentorship and placements. You will be introduced to the working environments in the industry. You will build up new useful skills. You will learn of the amazing opportunities back home. You will tackle and solve industrial challenges, and see your ideas come to life!

So, come on! Accept this dare. Join The Great Lab.
