The UTM Culture Unit was set up in 1996 under the administration of the Chancellery. However, this unit co-operates closely with the Students’ Affairs Office in cultural and arts activities especially among the students, primarily in the activities organised by the Malaysian Public Universities Cultural Council (MAKUM).
Since its formation, this unit has successfully performed at both the national and international arenas. Clubs under this unit include the Orchestra Club, Gamelan, Choir, Poem, Theatre, Dikir Barat, Kompang, Ghazal, Keroncong, Kuda Kepang, Zapin, Nasyid, Rebana Ubi, Kertuk.
